Co-washing for natural hair
I listed some sources below, but I will summarize what I've gathered about co-washing.
- You can use any rinse out conditioner.
- It's recommended to use cheap ones, because you will have to use a lot of it.
- Co-washing can be done daily or even weekly.
- Some people clarify their hair, once a week when co-washing, with a clarifying shampoo or other clarifying products (such as baking soda or vinegar). Clarifying your hair means to remove excess buildup from your hair; to make it clean and clear of everything (like styling gel, hair spray, mousse, grease, oil, dirt, etc).
- rinse with warm water. Hot water is too drying.
- apply from root to tips, coating all the hair, and wait at least 5 minutes.
My sister was the first to tell me about co-washing. So I decided to try it. I noticed a difference in the feel of my hair switching from washing with shampoo to washing with conditioner. My hair was softer and had more moisture. I don't have a routine yet, but I will keep co-washing.

Another Quick Hairstyle
I use this hairstyle when I wash and blow dry my hair. It is really quick and easy. I just part my hair and twist each side. Then I hold it in place with bobby pins. Lastly, I pin up the back with more bobby pins. This is my hair after a day at the state fair. My hair took a beating (with carnival rides and grass was tossed in my hair), and it still held up. Plus this hairstyle is easy to adjust, just a new part or add more twists for a new look. Below are pictures of my hair after the state fair.
